Deliverables

Ipad App Prototype, Casestudy

Brief

I was tasked with making a single user flow Ipad app. This app was to showcase a physical product that enhances the user’s way of life. The target audience and subject would be based off of our person of interest. The app is to use customizable features and to be fitted specifically for an Ipad.

Philosophy

The purpose of this product is to enhance the musicians everyday experience. Drummers do not just have to carry around one instrument but rather and entire set.
The particular piece they carry with them is the snare.
Bags have been used to carry these around but not always in the most convient or cohesive way. Each drummer is unique just as their equipment should be.

Influences

My person of interest is Joxan Reyes. As a performer and worship drummer, music is a huge part of his everyday. He is constantly carrying his snare to many different places all throughout the week. This bag will help not only his commute but his confidence as a drummer.

Brand Story

Creating a customizable snare bag can compliment the drummer rather than adding extra noise. I chose the name Ghostnote, because it is a term used by drummers when a note almost goes unnoticed but the drummer will always know it is there. The first part of my process included making a style tile and wireframes to organize my visual directions. The next step a Lo-Fi prototype to test with subject and gain critical feedback. Once all of the visuals came together, the app spoke for itself. I found images to give it a cleaner look and typefaces to help bring in a classy feel. I inlcuded many customizable options so the user felt a sense of control. Each drummer can be unique to themselves and show that to others through their own Ghostnote bag.

The App

Ghostnote allows you to pick each aspect of your bag from the color, zipper, and even the stitching. You can also add your name and give your bag a specific interior. Below is a Figma link that will take you to the prototype application.

Takeaways

We were able to pick our own subject and timeline which I think is
a good way to see which avenue we would take. It was nice to have a deeper motivation behind it so it felt more important. Exploring more of the interactive elements on Figma was helpful and looking at other customizable interfaces made me look at it completely differently. I feel very accomplished after this process and became more confident in Photoshop.
